Volusia County, Florida |
With its average daytime high temperatures of 81 in the summer and nearly 62 in the winter, Volusia County attracts countless new residents from all over the United States and Canada. The availability of outdoor activities combined with moderate weather leads to an active lifestyle that is envied all over the world. Volusia spans approximately half the width of Florida, from the Atlantic Ocean on the east to the St. John's River and Lake Monroe on the west.
Southwest Volusia County is a prime destination, not only for tourists but for home buyers relocating to Central Florida. Especially popular are DeBary, Deltona, Deland, and Orange City which are ideally situated for excursions to Orlando's entertainment and amusement parks, the Kennedy Space Center, and the beautiful Atlantic shore.

DeBary
Debary is a lovely little city full of Southern charm and serenely nestled among thousands of oak trees. It has a prime location on the north shore of the St. Johns River, northwest of Lake Monroe and west of Deltona in West Volusia County. While known for its small-town atmosphere, DeBary boasts a country club, championship golf course, horse properties and river-front homes that add an air of luxury. Quality of life, abundant services and plentiful resources are of utmost importance to this friendly town, which incorporated in 1993.
Deland
Deland is proud of its past and consistently balances preservation of historic sites with development for the future. The picturesque downtown area reflects the foresight of founder Henry Deland who envisioned creating the "Athens of the South" along the lakes and shores of the St. John's River back in 1876. Three neighborhoods share a place on the National Historic Register, and the city's main business district has been honored nationally as a "Main Street USA." Deland today supports a strong economy of manufacturing, retail, high tech and residential industries along with an airport and business park that has been declared a foreign trade zone.

Deltona
The largest city in Volusia County, Deltona is newer than its neighbors, having been the development concept of the Mackie Brothers in 1962 when they purchased over 17,000 acres for a planned community. Deltona now is a combination of single-family homes, upscale gated communities, condominiums and apartments. It's known for safe neighborhoods, outdoor and recreational facilities, and quality of life.
Orange City
Lauded as a "Tree City USA," Orange City could also be known as Small Town USA. Its 65 acres of lush, well-maintained parks and outstanding civic facilities mesh with city services and economic activity to create an intimate ambiance and a comfortable lifestyle. The city also provides a farmer's market, natural preserve and meeting room for Orange City residents. The Blue Spring State Park, a 518-acre sanctuary for manatees, is a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike.

If you enjoy the water—whether skiing, boating, fishing or relaxing on shore—Southwest Volusia County is the ideal place for your next residence. Its communities offer all the elements for a fun, active and elegant culture, and its lakes and rivers will enchant and entertain you, beckoning you to call this area home.
